I’ll bet most of us are eager to call it a year.
It is safe to say none of us saw a 2020 like this coming when the crystal ball dropped in Times Square a year ago. Yet, for us, the year’s silver lining has been the chance to unmask the Heroes Among Us, the everyday helpers who make a difference in our lives.
In January’s issue, we will begin 2021 by spotlighting reader-nominated adult and youth Heroes Among Us. We will share their unique helping stories and award a scholarship and monetary recognition.
In February, we will share practical tips to help you become a helper in your own community.
In 2021, we will launch another initiative aimed at serving the greater good, The Heart of Community, a yearlong storytelling series in Ruralite and Currents magazines aimed at preserving rural arts at a time of economic and pandemic distress. We hope to share a comeback story for the arts as we showcase the positive impact the arts have on the lives of communities often overlooked as places of meaningful creative exchange.
Here is where you can help us start the new year on the right note. As with the Heroes Among Us series, we need your leads on great arts and culture stories we can share throughout the next year. Please send your ideas to editor@pur.coop.
Thanks in advance.
May your holidays be full of good cheer.
